RE: They tried to break into my camper

If your near Montpieler, IN, there's a RV Surplus place named Icke's. They will more than likely have the parts. As your going into town on Hwy 18 it's on the right side just past the 1st curve. They have a bunch of windows but you would have to look for what you want. Be careful you can spend a lot of time looking and not get what you came for.
I'm sure there are some surplus stores up around where they assemble RV's, Middlebury, Misawaka.

RE: HAM Antenna Mounting on ToyHauler

The radiation pattern on a 5/8 wave antenna is lower than a 1/4 wave. 5/8 is better for distance on a flat plane, 1/4 is better in obstruction enviorment (hilly, forest, city buildings).
Think of the antenna pattern as a donut. A nice fluffy raised one is the pattern for the 1/4 wave, if you squash it flat it's the 5/8 wave.

RE: HAM Antenna Mounting on ToyHauler

Could be that with the antenna mounted on a corner it's more directive than the mag mount.

RE: Magic Jack

My Neice brought it to our attention. She is in Japan, hubby's a swabbie. She has a Indiana number.
I'll keep my land line but this is great for outgoing long distance, as stated above you need high speed internet.

RE: Can you change tires from 19.5" to 22"?

You'll change your final drive ratio. Less power for climbing hills, maybe better flat land economy but doubtful.

RE: 1997 Vortec all choked up

Mine starts fine 1st time of the day. Almost starts before you turn the key. Next start it wants to crank for 3-4 seconds then turn the key to start a second time and it fires right up, with your cloud of smoke. From what tracking I've done, with the service manuals I've come to the same conclusion as MarkW8. I just haven't taken the time to replace it yet.

RE: Hanover, Indiana RV Parks?

If you drive thru Hanover College watchout. There used to be a big rock sticking out on one of the curves. It could rip out the side of rig if your your not on your toes.

RE: Hats off to the Big 3

Yeah why not blame the Union's for looking out for the little guy.
Let's see now why should a bunch of lazy, do nothing, higher ups, keep getting bonus checks higher than thier salary when the company's losing money. When was an entry position supposed to start out at the Vice President level. Don't talk about Golden Parachutes, they won't jump when they have corporate jets.
Seems to me it's just the trickle down effect, heading for the bottom.

RE: LP Generator on Nat. Gas ?

If house's are torn up and gas lines are leaking won't they shut down gas lines? If nat gas is available great but be prepared for alternatives.

RE: TPMS ?

You could use Dyna Beads. They balance with centrifical force. Pick up a rock in the tread they adjust. I've had them in my 19.5's for year now.

RE: Catalytic Heater Problem

It's just a shame. You have to open something to get the moisture out. You lose warm air for cold. But if you don't you'll have moisture damage or mold.

RE: Learned a lot, but explain this.

97 models with a 8600 lb rating didn't have air bags and the emmission requirements were different from the lower ratings. 98 there were changes and the manufactures upped the ratings. Tires still seem to be the limiting factor.

RE: My bumper fell off

The bumper is made with a thin wall tubing. You shouldn't weld across square or rectangle tubing, it weakens the wall of the tubing. I've seen 8" tubing rip where it was welded in this manner. I used to build machinery that we moved with overhead cranes and operators would bang them against presses.
Take a piece of metal and bend it back and forth. It will heat up and break. That little bounce on the back of the TT is a lot faster than you can bend metal by hand.

RE: What Generator To Buy

I've had a Yamaha EF3000iSE for over 4 yrs. I had to replace the battery this yr, one of those small motorcycle types. Other than the batt it has never gave me a problem.
I picked the Yamaha over the Honda because it came with wheels and the dogbone adaptor included. I use a couple of ramps and roll it into and out of the truck alone, I have an artificial leg that off above the knee. We had one of the nosiy construction types and the wife was so happy with the "Little Blue Pig" once she heard how quiet it is.
It has never kicked out when running just my TT. I have ran 3 trailers at once with it, no air of course. The only time it kicked out we were running 2 trailers and both had coffee makers going and my neice turned on a hair dryer, Opps. My BIL was so impressed with mine that he bought the boost model for his 5er.
